“Although we believe that Sri Lanka is not among the countries that the Malaysian Government had sought assistance in the search operation, our division yesterday morning asked the Sri Lankan mission in Kuala Lumpur to find out whether Sri Lanka was among those countries,” of Ministry Public Communications Director General A.M.J. Sadiq said adding that the mission was yet to respond.
The Malaysian authorities called for help from 25 countries as the search for the missing flight MH370 expands, foreign media reported.
Mr. Sadiq also noted that Sri Lanka was not among the two directions that the search operations were being carried out, which are towards the north and above from India and to the southern and east, as also reported by the media.
“As we are not closer to or among the areas that the search operations are being carrying out, I don’t think that we have been asked to join in the search operations. If they have asked we will decide what to do depending on the nature of the request,” he said.
