Sri Lanka Navy personnel have arrested 9 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using unlawful fishing gear in the sea area of Silawathurai.
the interception was made by Naval personnel attached to SLNS Therapuththa located in Silawathurai in the Northwestern Naval Command yesterday (22). During the arrest,
2 dinghies and 2 fishing nets were also taken into naval custody, according to the SLN media unit. The apprehended persons and belongings were handed over to the Inspector of Fisheries,
Mannar for further investigations.
